Flips – Enid Blyton contains the three books collectively known as the Faraway Tree stories, written by perhaps the best-known and best-loved children’s author ever, Enid Blyton. These are backed up by three books written by other authors, inspired by Blyton’s The Enchanted Wood – the best-known of the Faraway Tree Stories. Collectively, they chronicle the magical world of the Enchanted Wood and the delightful characters who live there, such as the gentle Silky the Fairy and the bizarre but jolly Moon-Face. Most adults will have fond memories of reading – or of their parents reading to them – these enchanting books. Although nominally tagged with a reading age of 7 to 9, they are suitable for any youngsters who can read, no matter how young.

In action, Flips – Enid Blyton closely follows the experience of reading a physical book – you have as if it was a book, with the touch-screen to the right, and you turn the pages in the normal manner, by flipping the touch-screen with the stylus or your finger. The text is very clear (obviously there are fewer words per page than in a paper book), but it is also studded with extra interactive elements, such as animated pictures, links you can click on to trigger sound effects or open pop-ups which give extra information on the characters. Feathers, musical notes and flowers are hidden in the pages for readers to collect. Collect enough, and recipes and fun activities will be unlocked.
